YNU offers various financial aid and scholarship programs to enable doctoral students to actively pursue their studies without being hampered by any economic disadvantages.
Financial Aid
JSPS Research Fellowship for Young Scientists (Department in charge: Grant Section)
* Intended for doctoral studies
The Japan Society for the Promotion of Science funds brilliant young researchers so they can focus on their graduate studies with the aim of producing and recruiting creative future leaders of scientific research in Japan.

The Japan Student Services Organization extends loans, which are divided into interest-free Category 1 and interest-bearing Category 2, to university students. A briefing session on loan reservation is planned in early October.

Each semester, YNU awards a full or half tuition waiver for selected applicants among economically disadvantaged students with excellent academic performance.

As a form of aid, YNU employs research assistants among doctoral students who applied for tuition waivers and were granted only a half waiver or no waiver.
Note that the following are not eligible: JSPS research fellows, recipients of scholarship worth more than the tuition (excluding JASSO loan recipients), working professionals and other students with a certain level of income, repeaters (leaves of absence may be taken into account), government-sponsored international students, international students representing foreign governments, or the like.

EIS awards scholarships for its doctoral students with disabilities or economic difficulties associated with childcare, nursing care, or the like. Applications may be filed by prospective applicants to doctoral programs at EIS.

Educational and Research Grants
YNU International Academic Exchange Grant Program (Department in charge: EIS Office)
* Intended for master’s and doctoral studies
YNU encourages active research activities among students by awarding grants for conducting studies and presenting research findings at international conferences or the like.
Grant recipients are chosen among applicants according to their intended destinations.
