Study Information

Studies by Working Professionals

The Graduate School of Environment and Information Sciences welcomes working students who are seeking continuous training or refresher courses. They are expected to deepen university-industry exchanges and help advance new disciplines and technologies. Toward this end, EIS conducts special screening for working professionals based on oral examinations and application documents, while exempting them from written examinations. EIS makes special study arrangements to facilitate working professionals so they can take seminars and workshops at convenient times. It also offers extended enrollment for working professionals who wish to study over an extended period due to professional reasons.

Special study arrangements

Each lecture must be attended according to the day and time specified in the course schedule. However, seminars and workshops may be arranged in special hours for working professionals after due consultation with a relevant group of academic advisors, the academic advisor committee, or school committee members of respective departments.

Extended enrollment

Students with extended enrollment status are those who were approved to complete their studies according to a certain plan for a period longer than the standard duration for master’s programs (2 years) and doctoral programs (3 years), in consideration of their employment and other circumstances. Unlike other students, students who are granted extended enrollment status can complete their master’s studies within 2-4 years and doctoral studies within 3-6 years for the same tuition charged for the standard duration for completing master’s programs (2 years) and doctoral programs (3 years).
