*2 Some people contact EIS with concerns that their intended academic advisors have not responded to their emails. Please note that academic advisors may not respond to emails sent by EIS either because EIS coordinators communicate with them using the email address published online.

*3 Eligible applicants for a research student position at EIS must (1) hold a master’s degree or expect to earn one before the admission, or (2) have earned a degree comparable to a master’s degree outside Japan or expect to earn one before the admission.
Holders of bachelor’s degrees (including those who expect to earn one) without any earned or expected master’s degrees are welcome to apply for a research student position at the College of Engineering Science or College of Urban Sciences, whichever is affiliated with their intended academic advisors. Please mail an envelope containing the following two items to the following address after writing “Request for application guidelines (for prospective research, non-degree, or auditing students) of EIS” on it in red ink.

  1. A C4 (or Japanese “Kaku 2”) envelope for A4 documents with your name and return address written on it, as well as a 140-yen postal stamp affixed on it
